In 2016, Susan graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a bachelor's degree in Natural Science mod. Chemistry. She then joined the Senge group to pursue her Ph.D. studies, which are being funded by an Irish Research Council Government of Ireland Scholarship. Her research interests include porphyrin and BODIPY synthesis and medicinal chemistry.
